ISNHS’s 122nd Highschool Day
As I walked through the gates of Ilocos Sur National High School, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement in the air. It had been four long years since we last celebrated our school's Highschool Day, and finally, the day had arrived. The sun was shining brightly, and the campus was buzzing with energy as students prepared for the festivities ahead.
The day kicked off with a parade, a tradition I had only heard about but never experienced firsthand. Despite the short distance we marched, it was an enjoyable moment, marching alongside my classmates and feeling the energy of the crowd cheering us on. It was a simple joy, but one that I would always remember.
Following the parade, the girls hurried back to the room to freshen up and prepare for the field demo. This year's field demo was different from previous years, as it featured a battle of festival dances among grade levels rather than sections. It was a lively competition, with each grade level showcasing their unique dance styles. Though our grade 10 group didn't clinch the top spot, the experience of performing together and cheering on our classmates was something I would cherish.
After the field demo, I quickly changed into my org shirt and joined my teammates for our fundraising event at the science shed. Despite the scorching sun, we enthusiastically sold fans to passersby, eager to support our cause. The success of our fundraising efforts was rewarding, and I couldn't help but feel proud of our teamwork.
At 2:00 pm, the much-anticipated concert for a cause began. Despite the daytime setting, the concert was a highlight of the day, featuring performances from various bands. It was a moment of pure enjoyment, as we sang along and danced to the music, soaking in the atmosphere of togetherness and celebration.
As the day came to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of exhaustion mixed with contentment. Highschool Day was a whirlwind of activities, but it provided us with much-needed enjoyment and a break from our academic routines. For us grade 10 students, it was a bittersweet experience, knowing that it would be our first and last Highschool Day, but also grateful for the memories we had created together.
